At rare, we make healthy living a priority. Being a part of the Uga Escapes hotels we cultivate a range of our very own vegetables and fruits which we use in the preparation of our dishes. These include a mix of typically Sri Lankan vegetables such as Gotukola, Anguna Kola, Ela Batu and Kathuru Kola as well as those known globally such as Eggplant, Green Chilli, Beetroot, Spinach and Bitter-Gourd. For fruits, we have Pineapple, Dragon Fruit, Mandarin and Mango whilst we also grow locally popular treasures such as Nelli, Uguressa, Jack Fruit, Kamaranka and Sugarcane amongst many others. Depending on the harvest reaped, generally 90% of our dishes are essentially made up of this organic produce from our own gardens. Rare is committed in providing nutritious, wholesome food with our guests.
